Last week I wrote an article entitled 'Weightloss is not a mystery. There are no magic tricks.' In this article I wrote about the fact that, generally, if kilojoules in is greater than kilojoules out, then there will be weight gain. I received some feedback from people about this and so I thought I'd better clarify my views on diet!

I'm not a dietician, but I think I am a fairly healthy person. I rarely get sick and have not had any major health issues in my 30 years of living. I put a lot of this down to a pretty decent diet.

My mum's Lockyer Salad

I don't know why this is called Lockyer Salad, but this is a salad that mum has been making for years and I often get cravings for it. It is easy to make and always make me feel good. Sort of in that Pho kinda way if you know what I mean. And the best part is that leftovers taste better than the fresh salad!

The quantities don't really matter. Just add in more or less of each to suit your own taste.

What you missed for dinner! Thai beef salad

There are no hard and fast rules with this easy to make salad! Aromatic, refreshing and healthy, you can use up whatever is in the fridge, add your favourite vegetables and you can have it as hot (spicy) or as mild as you like, even skip the chilli altogether! This takes about 15 minutes to make and the hardest part is chopping everything! Serves 2
